The operation of the agreement on portability of rights between CONSAR, IMSS and ISSSTE is formalized

Within the framework of the Retirement Fund Administrators (Afores) fair, which is taking place in Mexico City from July 20 to 23, 2023, the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) and the National Commission of the Retirement Savings System (CONSAR), formalized various technical and rights portability annexes to the institutional collaboration agreement that the IMSS and ISSSTE had entered into, to recognize the labor trajectory of contributing workers in both institutes.

Among the commitments established in the agreement, there is one that consists of putting into operation the matrix of portability rights to exchange information of those who have contributed to both institutes. In addition to delivering the resources and the recognition of weeks of contribution, with the signing of these annexes it is expected to benefit thousands of workers who were able to contribute simultaneously or for intermittent periods in both institutes.

As part of the collaboration work, an automated system is also being developed that will expedite the rights portability process. The start-up of said system is expected to take place in September 2023, which will reduce the burden and optimize processes, as well as facilitate coordination between the social security and housing institutes and the 10 Afores, for the benefit of workers.

This progress is very important, since the institutional collaboration agreement had not been put into operation for more than 14 years, during which time countless workers could have benefited. Therefore, with the start-up, a door is opened so that those who have worked in the IMSS and/or ISSSTE do not lose their contributions as it had been happening, in addition to the fact that, by integrating the contributions of both institutes, workers could be in a better position to obtain a higher pension for their retirement.
