On June 1, 2023, the Supplement to the 2023 National Quality Infrastructure Program was published in the Federal Official Gazette.

The Ministry of Economy, through the Head of the General Directorate of Standards, is responsible for integrating the National Quality Infrastructure Program (the Program) and its Supplement, with the topics and projects of Official Mexican Standards that are intended to be developed annually.

From the review carried out by each Standardization Authority, of 1,673 topics contained in the Program, a simplification was achieved in the Supplement, including 147 topics, of which 82 are proposals to work on and 65 are standards that are proposed to be canceled in the year 2023.

A significant number of Official Mexican Standards from different authorities will be reviewed. It is worth noting that, as a new topic, labor equality and non-discrimination are being considered. With this, it is intended to establish the requirements so that public, private and social work centers of any activity and size, integrate, implement and execute within their management and human resources processes, practices for labor equality and non-discrimination that favors the integral development of its workers; that is, the issuance of a standard is intended, in order to cancel the current NMX-R-025-SCFI-2015 Standard, as well as to incorporate as a mandatory requirement the calculation of the wage gap in certified work centers.
