On January 10, 2023, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) published in the Federal Official Gazette the values of the Measurement and Update Unit (UMA) in force as of February 1, 2023.

Based on the above, the values of the UMA shall be the following:

• Daily value $103.74 Mexican pesos

• Monthly value $3,153.70 Mexican pesos

• Annual value $37, 844.40 Mexican pesos

The variation of the UMA in 2023, compared to 2022, is 7.82%, this being the inflation index registered up to December 31, 2022.

Please remember that the UMA is the unit of account, index, base, measure or economic reference in pesos to determine the amount of payment of the obligations and assumptions provided for in federal and state laws. The calculation of the value of the UMA is a task that corresponds to INEGI and is based on article 26 section B of the United Mexican States Constitution.

As commented in other news, the UMA appears when the de-indexation of the minimum wage is carried out in one of the latest Constitutional Amendments.
