The Legislative Branch approved Amendment to the Federal Labor Law in relation to vacation days
On December 14, 2022, the Legislative Branch approved the initiative to amend articles 76 and 78 of the Federal Labor Law, which increases vacation days. The resolution of said initiative was sent to the Executive Branch for its publication in the Federal Official Gazette. Once this is done, the amendment will produce its corresponding effects on the vacation days as follows:
Antiquity | Vacation Days |
1 | 12 |
2 | 14 |
3 | 16 |
4 | 18 |
5 | 20 |
6 a 10 | 22 |
11 a 15 | 24 |
16 a 20 | 26 |
21 a 25 | 28 |
26 a 30 | 30 |
31 a 35 | 32 |
36 a 40 | 34 |
It is very important for companies to establish the annual vacation program with due advance, since with this amendment the staff will be absent for more days than they had been absent. The anticipated development of this program can help to avoid costs due to lack of personnel for the operation of the work equipment, which, due to the increase in vacation days, represents an additional cost to labor in relation to production.
