Fifth wave of COVID-19 in Mexico
In the Gazette of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, dated June 9, 2022, it was published that the states of Nuevo León, Sinaloa, Ciudad de México, Baja California Sur, Guanajuato, Estado de México, Jalisco, Tabasco, San Luis Potosí, Puebla and Sonora, among other entities, presented an increase in infections.
The General Directorate of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health reported 8,024 new cases in the last 24 hours, which represents an increase of 203% compared to the daily average of the last week. Regarding deaths, the same Directorate reported 42 deaths in the last day, exceeding the average of 20 per day, of the previous week.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Health reported that hospital availability in the country for the care of severe COVID-19 is 99%. Therefore, only 3% of beds are occupied, and the epidemiological traffic light continues to be green.
Therefore, it is important to reinforce the issue of disabilities for COVID-19, as well as determining whether the number of days of isolation will continue to be 7 as it was in the fourth wave, since the same number of days of disability should be granted to employees who are infected. These issues are very important for the working life of companies and employees, so, as long as the competent authorities do not determine otherwise, what we have already shared in the news corresponding to the following link will continue to be applicable: https://trejogutierrez.com/en/2022/01/16/employers-shall-recognize-covid-permit-as-incapacity-for-work-stps-and-imss/.
