Term for the commencement of functions of the Local Conciliation Authority and Local Courts
On May 18, 2022 was published in the Federal Official Gazette (DOF) the Resolution that amends the fifth transitory article of the resolution by which provisions of various laws were amended, published in the DOF on May 1, 2019 (the Resolution).
The fifth transitory article cited, establishes that the Local Conciliation Centers and the Courts of the Judicial Branch of Mexico’s states will begin activities no later than October 3, 2022, in terms of what is established by their own regulations and budgetary possibilities, in accordance with what their local branches determine. The Local Conciliation Centers shall enter into operation in each Mexico’s state, on the same date that the Local Courts do so, in accordance with the provisions set forth in the Resolution.
The Resolution is related to the labor amendment dated May 1, 2019. Lets remember that, to date, this has been implemented in two stages and the last one began in November 2021. Because of the labor amendment, at the time, the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, urged the states to take the necessary actions so that, through their Local Congresses, they made the declaration for the start of functions of their Labor Courts and Local Conciliation Centers. The term to finish with the implementation of the new labor model expires in May 2023.
