Through Bulletin Number 008/2022, dated February 8, 2022, the head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS), Luisa María Alcalde, pointed out that there will be no extension for the unions to renew their directive. Therefore, they must carry out such renewal before March 31, 2022 under the new rules of personal, free, direct and secret voting. The head of the STPS suggested the use of the Remote Labor Voting System (SIRVOLAB), developed by the STPS itself, as the method of choice for subsequent processes.

Likewise, the head of the STPS recalled that the processes of legitimization of collective labor contracts shall continue, whose term expires on May 1, 2023. The Secretary, in addition, asserted that there is a clear obligation on the part of the companies of monitor that democratic processes take place effectively, in order to avoid possible sanctions derived from the Trade Agreement between Mexico, Canada and the United States (T-MEC).
