Increase to the Minimum Wage for the year 2022

December 15, 2021
Francisco Trejo Gutiérrez

On December 1, 2021, the National Minimum Wages Commission (CONASAMI), resolved the increase in minimum and professional wages that will be in effect as of January 1, 2022 and up to December 31, 2022.

As had already been done in recent years, CONASAMI continued to grant the Independent Recovery Amount (MID), and also decided to grant 9% for the Increase by Fixation, which in sum gives us a 22% real increase, to obtain the following amounts: the minimum wage in the free zone is $ 260.34 pesos per day, while in the rest of the country it is $ 172.87 pesos per day.

It is very important to consider that these percentages are solely and exclusively for the tabulators where there are minimum wages, or professional minimums. However, it is also a very important indicator for the revision of collective agreements, and even more so now that there will be one of the highest inflation rates in recent years.

The increase that was granted to contractual salaries should also be considered, since the inflation forecast for December 2021 was much lower than that with which we are expected to close the year 2021. Therefore, if the tabulators were revised with that forecast, they would remain below inflation, unlike those that are revised with year-end inflation. For the latter, would have to think about at least compensating the purchasing power of the employees.

Here is a table that summarizes the above text:
